Connecting the dots

I wasn't present in class today, but it appears that today they had gone over the frankstein papers we constructed within hours of Sunday night. I believe my paper was okay, I waited last minute to do and I'm sure I could've done better with a little more guidelines and I would've loved to have constructed a rough and have Preston or fellow peers correct it. Then after that we start to construct the final draft. Racial profiling seems like a easy topic to tackle but its not easy. Figuring out what to write and put in the essay was like trying to swim through fire blindfolded.

7times

The essay is well written and has the tone of someone who is curious and who is caring. Not caring as in a person who cares for another person, but a person caring for information and justice. The facts are he was shot 7 times, 6times to many and I believe that the two blogs are similar in contex but different in meaning, one is expressing feelings and one is just a essay about what happened.

Racial profiling lives on

So after I had read this article and kind of Sat back and enjoyed an episode of cops, it made me think about the topic of us( the citizens of the U.S) don't really know that we have the right to escape police harassment. Go on YouTube and watch videos of innocent people getting harrassed, violated and sometimes beaten brutally. I watched a video on a 19 year old African American skateboarder who was beaten by at least 6 police officers for riding his skateboard on the wrong side of the street? I've rode my bike on the opposite side of the street countless times infront of police officers and I was never beaten in public for it? Racial profiling lives on.

What I see is all in my head

So after the watching the video and counting how many times the ball was thrown I got it right. I counted the people in white passing the ball 15 times. When you get asked to do a task Like that you in your head its going to be the way you project its going to be, a person in a white tee surrounded by others. In here where we think is a lot different from out there and what others think, out there is a lot more complicated then in here.

tools that change the way we think

You have access to all the information people have documented since people could write in the palm of your hand thanks to the Internet. Making an essay on how Ben Franklin created electricity would involve hours and hours reading and searching for the right book, but with the Internet you just search it and get answers within seconds. I also agree with what Erik has to say, the Internet is both positive and negative effects.

filter bubbles

I learned that websites and social sites are limiting what we view and what others view. A filter bubble is basically controlling what you view because they're trying to guess who you are and personalize it to what you do. It kind of upsets me because it limits me on the information that I see and read and I like reading and being informed on things. I also believe that its really not necessary to personalize what people read. I'm just going to start using duckduckgo.com because Preston said it doesn't just give you a small percentage of information but all the info.
